What Happened to Belle Brita?

Y’all.

It’s been a minute.

Or roughly 6 months.

I’ve taken blogging breaks before. I even shared tips for bloggers to take breaks!

But I haven’t gone this long without blogging on Belle Brita… ever.

I’m not going to apologize for taking a break. However, I will offer an explanation. Plus, if you like my content in general, I encourage you to check out my other works online.

Why I Took a Blogging Break

First–and maybe y’all are aware of this–we’re still living in a global pandemic.

I offer a hearty congratulations to everyone who “pivoted” this past year in their business or side hustle. Props to everyone who pumped out valuable content at a staggering volume.

I made a different choice. I leaned hard into self-care. That means I read lots of books, walked around my neighborhood, started livestreaming on YouTube, improved my skincare routine, and worked on my sleep.

And I resumed consistent therapy.

I love blogging, but for the sake of my mental health this past year, I’ve needed to prioritize self-care above all else. That’s the first reason why I haven’t posted here since August 2020.

Second, I’ve been working on research-intensive blog posts. These are incredibly time-consuming, and they require a level of focus I can’t always sustain.

For now, Dan has convinced me not to publish one. It’s controversial, to say the least. Roughly 4,000 words and 50ish citations, but still controversial. There’s something very big I want in life, and Dan has pointed out that this particular blog post could stop me from getting what I want. I know I’m being vague. Just trust me.

I’m still working on the other blog post. I intended to publish it at the beginning of winter, but I struggled hard with motivation over the holidays.

Finally, I’ve been creating content elsewhere!

Find Me on the Internet

I still have a Harry Potter YouTube channel, which reached over 1000 subscribers last fall. Here are a few fun videos to check out!

  • [SKIT] Spooky HALLOWEEN Event in Harry Potter: Wizards Unite!
  • [REVIEW] Harry Potter X Ulta Beauty Magic Lip Balm Set and Hedwig Lip Gloss
  • [FUN] Harry Potter TV Series and Wizards Unite // Harry Potter Theory

This is also where I’ve been livestreaming, sometimes with friends or sometimes on my own. It’s been a great way to connect with friends during the pandemic.

I’m still the editor-in-chief of Wizards Unite Hub. While I mostly write about the mobile game Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, I occasionally create other Harry Potter content.

  • The Ultimate Guide to Harry Potter Subscription Boxes

I’m being creative on Instagram again. It’s nice to use Instagram as a creative outlet again, now that I’ve abandoned my social media influencer account.

A post shared by Lifestyle Blogger Brita Long (@bellebrita)

Best of all, I recently recommitted to Muddling Through Together, my website and community for Christian women. In December and January, I posted 5 new blog posts. I’m particularly proud of the 3 most recent ones.

  • White Supremacy is a False God
  • Why Christians Should Pray for Our Leaders
  • 31 Days of Prayer for Leaders

Thank you for understanding what’s been going on in my life. I look forward to blogging regularly again!

What’s going on in your life? Have I missed any great blog posts?
