Grief is Weird: I Still Mourn People I Barely Knew

Have you ever found yourself crying at the death of a long-lost friend or a former colleague? Grief can be weird and surprising. You expect to mourn the passing of your close friends and family, but there are times when grief catches you unexpectedly. I've been thinking about this a lot lately, after attending the memorial service for a sorority sister I hadn't seen in a decade. We lost touch years ago, and yet I'm still so shocked and saddened by her death. I've shared these thoughts, along with my perspective from my own mother's death, in a blog post.
