Thankful Thursday: For the Love of Georgia

This month, I'm thankful for my new life in Georgia!

This weekend will mark four weeks since I finally moved from Ohio to Georgia. I am already so thankful to be here! I’m thankful to be with my husband every day. I’m thankful Dan has a job again, one he enjoys doing. I’m thankful that I saw Wicked with my Furman friend Leah. I’m also… [Read More]

Site Prep with Dan // Volume 2

Dan's second Q&A for the blog! Will he run for president at 35? Read and find out!

My sweet husband was willing to spend a few minutes on our anniversary to answer these questions for y’all! Do you have a good luck charm or ritual? Yes, it’s having my wife drink wine. What is your favorite dish that your wife makes for you?  Do you have any fun memories of a time… [Read More]

My Favorite Monthly Blog Link-Ups

Confused by blog link-ups? Curious if monthly blog link-ups are as good (or better than!) weekly link-ups? I have all your answers, PLUS a detailed list of my favorite link-ups every month! #blogging

What is a blog link-up? My blogging friends probably already know this, but most of my readers are not bloggers themselves. If you ever read the italicized portion at the bottom of my blog posts, I sometimes say, “Linking up with So&So for Such&Such!” Those are blog link-ups. One or more bloggers will “host” a… [Read More]

I Do: 12 Months Later

Happy one-year anniversary to my husband! Our first year of marriage has been difficult, but I love you more with each passing day.

I can hardly believe Dan and I first said, “I do” a year ago today. Part of me feels like Dan has always been by my side. Part of me feels like I just met him yesterday. There are times when we’re cuddling in bed, or when I laugh at his adorkable enthusiasm for life,… [Read More]

Compromise as a Mutual Decision, Not as a Self-Sacrifice

When is compromise a healthy part of relationships? When does abuse or control masquerade as compromise? Learn the difference between compromise in a healthy #marriage and when it's a sign of a dysfunctional relationship.

I’m basically never going to stop reminding people that my last name is, and always will be, Long. I’m also never going to stop advocating for both men and women to have the freedom to make their own decisions regarding their names. This is not exclusive to name changes upon marriage, although that is when… [Read More]

United Healthcare Refuses to Cover My Prescriptions

I have two prescriptions. United Healthcare, our health insurance, refuses to cover either of them.

I take two monthly prescriptions. I take Pentasa for my Crohn’s Disease. I take hormonal contraception via the Patch to prevent pregnancy AND to help with my periods/cramps. Dan and I found out about a month ago that United Healthcare, the health insurance offered through his work, won’t cover the Patch. For the record, my… [Read More]
