How is December almost over already?
I can’t believe it’s almost 2017! 2016 was a year of terrible lows and fantastic highs. I’m looking forward to the chance to start anew.
Dan and I love sharing a little bit more about ourselves each month, while getting to know fellow bloggers!
How have you become a better person this year?
Dan: I can’t think of any specific metric of improvement this year. Do I think I am a better person? Yes. But do I have any objective evidence for it? Not really. Then again it is difficult to make objective measurements of how good a person is. I’ve digressed here and avoided the question. But maybe I can claim that is my improvement for the year… The wisdom to know when to not make claims you can’t substantiate?
Brita: Honestly, I’m not sure if I have become a better person this year. I feel like I’ve spent so much time focused on all my health problems that I haven’t done much else.
What do you think about creative outlets? Do you have one, and if so, what is it?
Dan: Other than writing paragraphs of bologna to avoid answering questions, my creative outlet is generally building things. Whether that be wood-working, making small parts for my car, assembling LEGOs, or just stacking wooden blocks, I find comfort and peace putting things together with my hands.
Brita: Obviously, I asked this question, largely because I think everyone needs a creative outlet! I define “creative outlet” fairly broadly. In my opinion, any hobby or activity that involves creating or changing counts as a creative outlet. I have a few. While I’m still very much a novice gardener, I do love picking out plants for the house or garden and trying not to kill them. I love blogging, but for actual creativity, Instagram challenges me and brings me joy.

In a perfect world, what would be your top 5 priorities in life?
Dan: In a perfect world, life would not need any priorities because there wouldn’t be anything to prioritize. In an imperfect world, my top 5 priorities are 1) providing happiness for my wife, 2) having financial freedom, 3) providing happiness for other family members, 4) providing happiness for friends, and 5) attempting to limit unintended harm to others.
Brita: My marriage/Dan, my loved ones, travel, writing, my health.
What do you want to improve about your life in 2017?
Dan: In 2017, I hope to make more of an effort focusing on my health and well being. I am by no means unhealthy in regards to my physical condition, but at some point I assume the miracle of youth will wear off, and I will actually have to make an effort to maintain my fabulous body.
Brita: I want my medications to reverse the damage to my small intestines. Each month I want to improve my fitness levels. I want to spend more time writing. Finally, I want to be a more patient and loving wife.
January’s theme will be Goal-Setting. If you’d like to join Dan and me, the questions will be:
- What goals did you accomplish in 2016?
- Do you set New Year’s resolutions? Why or why not?
- How do you work for what you want?
- Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Next month’s link-up will be January 31st, the last Tuesday of the month.
How has 2016 treated you? What do you wish for 2017?
