November Goals // October Recap

One of the benefits of being part of the blogging community is finding inspiration from other bloggers. Several bloggers like Kiersten at She is Fierce reflect on the month before and set goals for the new month. I really like the idea of sharing goals with friends and family who can help keep me accountable. Plus a monthly recap is a chance to blog about the little things that didn’t receive their own post.

Thus I present to you my inaugural Goals & Recap post!

My goals for my blog, my life, my marriage, and more!

November Goals

For my blog:

  • Increase my monthly page views by at least 15%.
  • Reorganize my blog categories.
  • Add a permanent page that lists all of the blog link-ups I join.

For my health:

  • Improve my sleep habits. Get off my laptop by 10:30pm; be in bed, lights out, by 11:00pm.
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables. Get at least two servings per day.

For my marriage:

  • Be patient with my recently-unemployed husband when he makes lots of noise at home when I’m trying to work.

For our household:

  • Keep up with the laundry.
  • Keep the space in front of my bedroom dresser clear.

October Recap

While I didn’t set specific goals for October, I did put together an Autumn Bucket List. What exactly did I accomplish last month?

Fashion

  • Buying boots has been cut from the list, unfortunately. They are a WANT, not a NEED, and thus not a practical expenditure while Dan is not working.
  • I’m wearing knee socks with a dress right now! Unfortunately, no one saw my cute outfit because my car wouldn’t start when I tried to leave the house for a dentist appointment.
  • I have been wearing a blog-worthy outfit every week, even if I haven’t always taken pictures of them.

Ohio

  • Dan and I went to the local corn maze with Dave, Megan, and their son, Jace! We decided not to complete it simply because of time constraints, but we had a ton of fun.
  • We also picked pumpkins.
  • And then we decorated our pumpkins!
  • And then I roasted our pumpkin seeds!
  • Alas, we did not buy local corn in time. I blame my husband. He’s the Ohio native. He should have been on top of corn season.
Having fun at the corn maze in #Ohio
We had so much fun at the corn maze! I love hanging out with Megan, Dave, and Jace. If you’ve never done a corn maze before, this one has stations throughout the maze that you find and stamp. This corn maze also has its own pumpkin patch.

Dan took about a million pictures of Jace. I mean, he’s so gosh darn cute! Who doesn’t want to take a million pictures of that squishy face?! Jace loved playing in the corn box.

Blog

  • Stephanie of My Freckled Life has been a much better Big than I’ve been a Little, but October was an unusually stressful and busy month. Stephanie has answered all of my blogging questions. She’s great! Check out her blog!

A stressful and busy month

Besides checking a few items off my bucket list, October was a very crazy month.

October 4: Harry and Celia got married.

October 8: Dan lost his job.

October 11: We did the corn maze in the afternoon. We decorated our pumpkins that evening with our friends Mary and Tyler.

October 12: I attended the Founders’ Day celebration.

October 17-18: I attended a film festival in Athens.

October 17-20: Dan, his brothers, and their dad went to Las Vegas.

And those are just the unusual events. Add in two family dinners, a few family lunches, several weekly game nights, and you see how busy and stressed out I’ve been. Plus while Grandma technically died September 30th, grieving lasts a lot longer than an afternoon. I skipped Game Night this week just so I could get a full night’s sleep, which has been a rare occurrence lately.

Despite everything, Dan and I are lucky. We’re in an okay place, and things can only get better. Most importantly, we have each other, our families, and our friends.

How was your October? Do you have any specific goals for November? Let me know!

Bisous, Brita
