How to Style a Pink Dress Three Different Ways

A few months ago, when Lilly Pulitzer held their After-Party Sale, I bought two new dresses and a belt. I showed off my white eyelet dress and bow belt already, but today I’m featuring my pink eyelet dress!

Before I go any further, I must acknowledge that my best friend Libbi helped me pick out all of my Lilly Pulitzer sale splurges. While I was torn between the two eyelet dresses and several patterned dresses, Libbi convinced me to buy the classic styles. The colorful patterns are fun, but I worry they’ll look dated in five or ten years. Even at sale prices, Lilly Pulitzer dresses are investment pieces, so I want to be able to wear them in my *gasp* 30s.

How I styled my pink eyelet Lilly Pulitzer dress for three separate wedding occasions #style #fashion #weddings

I take great joy in attending weddings and other wedding events. It’s genuinely such an honor to be invited to bridal showers, the rehearsal dinner, and, of course, weddings themselves. Dan and I have been invited to quite a few weddings and other wedding events in our three years together. I like maintaining a minimalist wardrobe, full of pieces I love that I can wear many times. This is true for my special occasion dresses as well.

In the past six weeks, I’ve worn my pink Lilly Pulitzer dress to a vow renewal, a bridal shower, and a rehearsal dinner. I styled it differently for each occasion! The only problem with wearing such a great dress to such special events is that I completely failed to take good fashion pictures of my dress. It’s a little awkward to be at a meaningful event and then demand someone spend 15 minutes taking my picture.

Pink Dress with Knee Socks and Yellow Accessories

Eddie and Krystal’s vow renewal’s suggested dress was “black tie and blue jeans.” I interpreted this as taking a simple dress and dressing it down. I love wearing fun knee socks in the fall, so I paired patterned knee socks and black wedges with my pink eyelet dress. I added a chunky vintage yellow bracelet and a thin yellow belt. Unfortunately, I don’t actually have any pictures of my dress and accessories.

Pink Dress with a Statement Necklace

Libbi’s bridal shower included our Kappa friends, so it was the perfect occasion to wear my clunky key necklace. Brown kitten heels finished the look.

Pink Dress with Bangles

For Harry and Celia’s rehearsal dinner, I styled my Lilly Pulitzer dress with my favorite gold wedges (a staple at many past weddings) and vintage bangle bracelets. I had also intended to wear a pair of small gold and silver earrings, but the burning of my ears after just a few minutes reminded me of why I haven’t worn that pair in years.

Some of these bracelets might look familiar. I repeated all the bracelets I wore with this outfit, and I added my late (paternal) grandmother’s monogrammed bracelet.

My struggle to take lots of great pictures of me in my outfits is why I’m not a fashion blogger, even if I enjoy sharing a few fashion posts. That, and my French-inspired habit of repeating great outfits several days in a row.

The moral of this story is that solid-colored dresses are easy to accessorize, and I need to take more pictures of my clothes.

Bisous, Brita
