When Life is Unbalanced

Welcome to the ninth day of the 2018 Love Blog Challenge! Today’s prompt is Balance. Check out the announcement post for all the prompts and rules this month. You can still join the link-up for yesterday’s topic, Celebration.

Why did I choose “Balance” as one of this month’s prompts? I’ve been wracking my brains all day trying to think of something to write that would still be genuine.

The truth is, I don’t know what a balanced life looks like. I certainly don’t feel like my life is balanced. Has it ever been balanced?

In high school, I was constantly stressed out. Third in my class, editor of yearbook, captain of dance team, president of yearbook, and at least a few other leadership positions. Don’t get me wrong, I mostly enjoyed high school, but I didn’t sleep enough, and I worried unnecessarily about everything.

Fast-forward to today. I don’t know if I’m doing too much or not enough in life. When I manage to accomplish a lot of chores and spend extensive quality time with Dan, I don’t spend enough time on my blog or Instagram or freelance writing. When I’m on top of my volunteer work with Kappa, I fall behind in my blog emails.

Add in nonstop medical visits to manage my physical health problems plus my constant grief struggles, and you get me.

A big unbalanced mess.

Coffee cup, smart phone, notebooks, pink desk flat lay.

And that’s okay. I’m okay.

I don’t have to be perfect. My life doesn’t have to be perfectly balanced.

I’m taking each day at a time, just doing my best. Some days are better than others.

Overall, I spend time with the people I love, I write, and I volunteer. In the grand scheme of things, I think that’s enough.

And maybe that’s all I need to live a balanced life.
