Meet the Flongs // Goal-Setting

Today is the last Tuesday of January! This means two things:

  1. Today is the monthly link-up for Getting to Know You!
  2. Tomorrow starts the daily link-up for #LoveBlog.

Dan and I enjoy sharing a little about ourselves on the blog each month. Plus I love getting to know more about my fellow bloggers!

Join me for Getting to Know You, a monthly blog link-up in which you or a loved one answer a few fun questions! | Belle Brita

What goals did you accomplish in 2016?

Dan: That’s a tough one… I don’t remember establishing goals for 2016 per se. Does going to Paris with Brita count?

Brita: I actually made a profit on Belle Brita. Not a big one, mind you, but my passive income revved up in November and December. Dan and I finally went to Paris together! (Yes, babe, that totally counts).

Do you set New Year’s resolutions? Why or why not?

Dan: No, because I don’t tend to follow through on them.

Brita: As my loyal readers already know, I set Monthly Goals, not New Year’s resolutions. Breaking down bold intentions into actionable steps helps me stay focused.

How do you work for what you want?

Dan: I guess working hard and accomplishing my goals just comes naturally to me. I’m going to blame it on good parenting.

Brita: This is hard for me because much of what I want is outside of my control. But for whatever goal I’m pursuing, I try to take things just one day at a time. I get overwhelmed easily if I think about everything that I need to do. Thinking about what I can get done in a day, or in an hour, helps me slow down and focus on one step at a time.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Dan: Is it bad to say doing the same thing I’m doing now? But more professionally? Maybe with a house or with a kid. Maybe… who knows?

Brita: In 5 years, I will be a mother, either naturally or through adoption or both. I will have published several books. Dan and I will own a house where I will grow herbs and vegetables in the garden. Plus I’ll have a rain barrel and a composter.

February’s theme will be #LoveBlog.

  • What did you learn from this blog challenge?
  • For bloggers: What do you like most about being a blogger?
  • For bloggers’ friends/family/spouses: What do you like most about knowing a blogger?
  • Which #LoveBlog post did you like most? Why?
  • How is writing for #LoveBlog different than writing during other months?

Next month’s link-up will be February 28, the last Tuesday of the month. This is obviously the last day of #LoveBlog, with the prompt #LoveBlog. So basically these questions will be optional for next month’s link-up since I’m combining the two.

I thought about combining this post with my usual Monthly Goals post, but it ended up way too long. That post will be published later than usual due to #LoveBlog. Come back on Saturday to read it!
