I just looked over my January goals with Dan and realized I fell short on almost all of them. BUT then Dan pointed out how much his new job affected my ability to complete my goals, so that reassured me. Since this month will be all about MOVING TO GEORGIA, I’m keeping my goals pretty easy for February.
January Recap
For my blog:
- I planned out my editorial calendar through the end of March! It is so helpful to me to have an idea of future posts already planned out. I keep my calendar flexible and move things around as necessary, but writing out topics in advance keeps me focused.
- January was a great month for quality over quantity! I only blogged 12 times, but I managed to increase my page views from December by 23%! Plus y’all loved my post explaining why bloggers shouldn’t work for free–it’s already in my top 10 posts of all time.
- My new categories aren’t perfect, but I spent a lot of time refining them. I feel like they better represent my writing themes.
- Yeah, still haven’t done a page of blog link-ups…
For my health:
- Yeah… I haven’t seen an eye doctor or a gastroenterologist. Since I’m so close to living in Georgia, I don’t want to see a Findlay gastroenterologist just once. I might still go to the eye doctor at Wal-mart, but use an online service to order my glasses.
- Yeah… I haven’t gained any weight. But my stress levels have been pretty minimum, woohoo!
- I got to bed by 11pm most nights, if not every night. It’s a lot easier to keep a healthy bedtime when Dan is with me.
For my marriage:
- Dan started his new job last week! My support in his job hunt and job acceptance has been my main priority this month, over my other goals.
- Dan agrees that I’ve met my goal of serving him this month. It wasn’t easy, mainly because I didn’t count the things I normally do for him or for us, like our laundry. But I cooked more than usual, and I prioritized what he wanted to do this month.
For our household:
- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
- Not even close, on anything.
- Edit: Dan wants to credit me for preparing to move, but all I’ve done so far is share to social media our Craig’s List posting of the furniture we’re selling, and help Dan clean out his excess clothing. He’s done way more packing, cleaning out, and organizing than I have.
For the Winter 2014 Book Challenge:
- This was my biggest fail. I’ve read half of A Moveable Feast. That’s it. I guess I also read half of Ten Fingers Touching by Ellen Roth, but that’s for my fairy tale review column.

February Goals:
For my blog:
- Be a good Blog Little to Susannah of Simple Moments Stick.
- Put together more notes on my blog branding. You might have noticed I’ve started creating blog graphics in similar colors. I have more ideas than that for a new blog design and consistent branding, but I’m waiting to spend money until I have really solid notes on everything I want.
- Put together a list of blog topics on blogging! Now that I’ve been at this for more than 6 months, I’ve noticed a few things. For example, a lot of blogging advice isn’t that great for new or small bloggers. Also even established bloggers keep breaking FTC guidelines… aka they’re breaking the law. My editorial calendar might already be scheduled through March, but I want to sprinkle some blogging blog topics in April, May, and June.
For my health:
- Start researching gastroenterologists in the Norcross area.
- Finally see an eye doctor!
- Continue with my 11pm bedtime.
- See a dentist about my teeth sensitivity.
For my marriage:
- Spend quality time with Dan over skype. Prioritize real conversations.
For our household:
- Pack it up!
- Clean the house.
For the Winter 2014 Book Challenge:
- Well, I doubt I will finish all the books to complete the challenge. But that’s okay! I just need to accept that sometimes life circumstances get in the way of reading.
- Finish A Moveable Feast. Read The Dinner so at least I can get points for the meal category.
My goals aren’t too ambitious this month, but February is pretty short. Plus, getting ready to move will take up most of my time!
What are your goals this month? If you blogged about February goals, share a link in the comments!

These are really great goals! And what is a blog little? Is that kind of like a sorority big/little? I’m intrigued!
It is like a sorority big/little! I participated in the fall, and I’m doing it again this winter. Basically bloggers apply to be part of the program, and then we’re matched with each other, based on size/experience/goals/etc. You can learn more here! http://www.southernbeautyguide.com/search/label/bigs%20%26%20littles%20blogging%20network
Good luck on your goals! I hope your husband is enjoying his new job, and now I need to go read your post about why bloggers shouldn’t work for free! Oh, and good luck in the move–it’s always so exciting to move, but gah the process is exhausting!
He’s been in the office a whole 7 days so far, and he LOVES it. Apparently the work culture is a lot more comfortable and employee-focused than his old job was. At the moment, he has a long commute, but he’s only temporarily renting a room from a guy’s house. Dan’s looking at lots of apartments this week that are much closer to his office, so hopefully he’ll have one picked out for when I show up!
I hope your move goes smoothly. I’m excited to read your posts about blogging. You are very organized and I love the way you present information!
Thank you! Your support means so much to me. 🙂
Good luck with these goals! I can give you the name of Jeremy’s gastro doctor if you want it. He isn’t in the Norcross area, but I don’t think many are. He is associated with St. Joseph’s hospital off of 285. I can get his practice’s name if you want it.
That would be great, thanks! I will take any recommendations I can get. Dan’s landlord is getting me some names, too.
I’m right with you when it comes to moving stress! I’ve done it so many times, yet I’m never prepared for how much it involves. It’s definitely an experience that warrants giving yourself some grace, especially where goals are concerned 😉 Love the idea of an editorial calendar, I might (finally) give that a try! Good luck on your goals!
This is my first time moving a lot of stuff, too. I’ve previously just not owned much, but since Dan and I just got married last year, we have lovely wedding presents that all need to be carefully boxed up. It’s going to be a long February.
An editorial calendar is life-changing. It doesn’t have to be rigid. I’m constantly rearranging it. But it keeps me focused!
Good luck with all the big changes that are headed your way!
Thank you!!!
I love that you stepped out of your normal ways of serving and served your husband in the ways that you knew he’d appreciate 🙂 Thanks for linking up!! I can’t wait to see how your goals go this month.
I figure if we already divide up responsibilities, me doing my regular chores doesn’t count as serving my husband. That goes against the intentions of that goal.
Quality time over skype will be a challenge, if only because Dan and I are both huge multi-taskers! But last night we had a nice, long conversation, so at least we’ve started off the month well.
So you’re moving to Norcross, GA? I’m from the Atlanta area and went to church in Norcross for a while! So one of your goals is Skype dates with your husband. Are you two long distance right now? Yikes! Hang in there! It’s a great goal to plan for intentional conversations with your husband. Especially when you aren’t together much. Good luck with that and all your other goals! I hope the move goes smoothly!
Good luck with your moving and everything. I love that you are continuing to prioritize serving your husband and having quality conversations with him even during this big change!
As for the eye doctor, I’ve started only going to Target, and actually really like it. Plus they’re open on Saturday which makes it easy. Then of course I always wind up doing a little shopping after. Not quite the same as Wal-mart, but still the same idea and one I can get behind!
Good luck with your goals! It is great that you are so inspired! Thanks for sharing! London Removal Ltd.
