April was very hit-or-miss with my goals. I actually got a ton of work done this month, but only some of my progress actually stemmed from my goals. But every little bit counts!
April Recap:
For my career:
- I did not pitch another article to another website or magazine, although I’ve been brainstorming ideas.
- I wrote a post about Instagram, but I haven’t finished the one on Pinterest yet.
- I hit 7,000 followers on Instagram yesterday morning, so I’m counting that as meeting my April goal! All thanks to my Comment Pods and Bubble Nets. (Don’t know what those are? Check out InstaRevealed! <– affiliate link)
- I have over 1,500 followers on Twitter, but not quite 2,000.
- I didn’t finish my freelance writing course.
For my health:
- I’ve scheduled my colonoscopy for May.
- I have not transferred over my prescriptions to the new service yet.
- Ha, I didn’t do a single day of yoga. Oops. Lots of walking, though!
- I ate more fruits and vegetables, but still not a sufficient quantity.
- Unfortunate Bonus: I’ve spent hours upon hours dealing with health insurance.
- Unfortunate Bonus: I’ve also spent not quite multiple hours, but still too much time, dealing with hospital billing. I literally get a statement from my hospital 4-5 days a week, usually reminding me, “THIS IS NOT A BILL.” But then when I finally do receive a bill, it has zero information on it other than the date of service, and how much money they expect from me. And then when I request more information, it takes for-freaking-ever. Meanwhile, the hospital gets annoyed that I haven’t paid my bill, that I’ve had for maybe a week, when they haven’t set me the information I’ve requested multiple times. Because after you overpay just once on a hospital bill, and only get a partial refund, you become a stickler for detailed information before handing over a cent.
For my marriage:
- Dan and I spent lots of quality time together in April. We even hiked to see a waterfall and visited a few wineries.
- I stayed in frequent touch with Dan while I was at the beach.
For our household:
- I have not cleaned the guest bedroom, but I have figured out what needs to be done for baby-proofing the room.
- Dan and I decluttered the living room. We cleaned it quite intensely. We’ve figured out what to move to baby-proof it before our nephew visits.
- I did tons of laundry both before and after my trip to the beach.
- I cleaned 2 of the bathrooms. Again, we just don’t use the guest bathroom.
- Bonus: Dan and I decluttered and thoroughly cleaned our bedroom.
- Bonus: I dusted almost all of the blinds around the townhouse.
- Bonus: Dan and I deep-cleaned the kitchen.
For my book challenge:
- Alas, I only read one book, leaving me three books shy to finish the challenge. But it was still fun, and I’m glad I tried new books!
May Goals:
I don’t want to set too many goals for May. My brother-in-law (Patrick), his wife (Emily), and their son (Cutest Baby in the World) are visiting us for a week this month! I’m so excited to spend so much quality time with them. I don’t plan on working much while they’re here, so I can’t be too ambitious in my goals. Furthermore, most of what I need to do this month is get ready for their arrival.
For my career:
- Pitch an article anywhere. I have so many ideas. I just need to take the time to pitch them!
- Finish my freelance writing course.
- Blog 2-3 times per week.
- Create content in advance for a series I want to start.
- Hit 10,000 followers on Instagram! I gained 2,000 in March and 2,5000 in April. I think I can gain 3,000 new followers in May. Use the tips from InstaRevealed! (affiliate link)
For my health:
- Find a new infusion center because I HATE MY HEALTH INSURANCE.
- Deal with my damned prescription insurance and prescriptions.
- Schedule a follow-up visit after my colonoscopy.
For my marriage:
- Plan out what Dan wants to do on the weekends with his family and what I will do with them while he’s at work.
- Schedule out our summer to give us plenty of quality time with each other while traveling to see friends/family
For our household:
- Clean the guest bedroom!
- Baby-proof the guest bedroom.
- Clean the living room.
- Baby-proof the living room.
- Clean all 3 bathrooms.
- Stock up on food that Patrick and Emily like.
Definitely not too ambitious this month, but sometimes I need to remember that people are more important than specific goals. We’re headed into summer, a time to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family.
