My Crohn’s Diet: Week 2 Recap

It’s my second week of following my own customized Crohn’s diet. This week I looked up recipes with all my different flours. I can only eat so many eggs without getting bored.

I only actually made one new recipe, though (apple cinnamon muffins). They weren’t bad, but they’re definitely not the same as regular muffins.

The gluten-free foods I tried were made with rice flour.

Every Crohn's Disease patient has unique needs. I've combined two different Crohn's diets into one to see if they help with my symptoms. This is how the second week went! | Belle Brita

Week 2 of a New Crohn’s Diet

Crohn’s Diet Day 8

Breakfast: 1 fried egg, 2 sausage patties, hash browns, hot chai tea with a tiny bit of half & half

Lunch: brisket, pulled pork, ribs, water

Snack: Starbucks chai latte with almond milk

Dinner: gluten-free pepperoni pizza, water

Crohn’s Diet Day 9

Breakfast: 2 sausage patties, hash browns, hot chai tea

Snack: 1 banana with peanut butter, hot chai tea

Lunch: 1 piece gluten-free pepperoni pizza, brisket, pulled pork, ribs, small can of Coke Zero

Dinner: chicken and rice soup

Crohn’s Diet Day 10

Breakfast: banana pancakes (2 eggs, 1 banana, dash of vanilla) with peanut butter; Fast Lane hot tea

Lunch: gluten-free boxed mac & cheese, 1/2 peeled apple, water

Dinner: pizza quiche, 1 peeled pear, apple soda

Crohn’s Diet Day 11

Breakfast: cottage cheese with honey and cinnamon, Fast Lane hot tea

Lunch: pizza quiche, cheese stick, Fast Lane hot tea

Dinner: “Korean” ground beef and rice, water (that’s what the recipe calls it, but the author isn’t actually Korean, so I question that adjective)

Crohn’s Diet Day 12

Breakfast: 1 fried egg, 2 slices bacon, Fast Lane hot tea

Lunch: bacon cheddar mashed potatoes and cauliflower; cottage cheese with honey, cinnamon, and cantaloupe; Fast Lane hot tea

Dinner: taco bowl (shredded chicken, 1 avocado, cheese), water

Snack: apple cinnamon muffins made with coconut flour

Crohn’s Diet Day 13

Today I didn’t eat regularly. I had several more muffins, a cheese stick, and leftover Korean ground beef and rice. I drank Fast Lane hot tea and water.

Crohn’s Diet Day 14

I’m not sure what’s up with my hunger. I didn’t eat regularly today either, but I kept better track of what I ate.

Lunch: apple cinnamon muffin, Fast Lane hot tea

Dinner: pork chop with a creamy herb sauce, lavender soda

Is my Crohn’s diet working?

It’s too soon to tell. I had two days of frequent diarrhea, with a greater urgency than I usually experience. If I were to blame it on a food, it would be either the mac & cheese, the pear, or the soda. But since it lasted two days, it might not be caused by food. Sometimes that’s just life with Crohn’s Disease.

Next week I will be breaking my diet for one meal only. Dan and I won a free four-course bourbon dinner at Le Bilboquet, a French restaurant in Atlanta. The menu will include marinated bay scallops and ahi tuna, braised veal cheeks, roasted duck breast plus an amuse bouche and dessert. I am definitely not nitpicking the ingredients on an expensive free meal.

In exercise-related news, I worked out on Tuesday, and I intend to workout today. With dry skin and dry hair, I don’t shower every day, so I plan my sweaty workouts for days I need to shower.
