My February goals were reasonable, but I still didn’t manage to accomplish all of them. Still, it was a busy month, and I did do a lot in my life, even if not everything involved completing a goal.
February Recap
For my blog:
- I was a so-so Blog Little to Susannah of Simple Moments Stick. I realized earlier today that I hadn’t emailed her in a month… But I have read every single one of her blog posts for February, I commented on most of them, I tweeted links to them, and my sidebar ad swap has done really well for her. WordPress Stats track links clicked from my blog, and I’ve sent a decent amount of traffic her way. Susannah was a GREAT Blog Big to me. Our ad swap benefited me more than it did her… She answered all of my questions, and she always replied to my emails (in January) pretty quickly. If you are a fellow Christian blogger, I highly recommend her weekly Faith and Fellowship Blog Hop. I always find inspiring blog posts there each Friday. If you’re interested in the Bigs and Littles Blogging Network, the next sign-up is in MAY.
- I’ve definitely been taking notes on branding! I keep reading and pinning to reread later valuable blog posts on branding. I’ve also made some hasty tweaks to my blog design (like a new header), and I’m looking into other options with my current free theme. One day, I will pay for a custom design, but I want to know EXACTLY what I want before I invest the money into it.
- I did not put together a list of blog topics on blogging. Fail.
- Bonus: I became a blogger for The Huffington Post, which basically changes everything. Stay tuned for more on that.
For my health:
- I’ve talked to some people, I have some recommendations, and I think I’m ready to call my future gastroenterologist this week to schedule my first appointment!
- I did not see an eye doctor. Fail.
- Ha, I don’t think I managed to get to bed by 11pm once this entire month. It has been a pretty sleepless month, in fact.
- I did go back to my dentist about my tooth sensitivity, and it’s gotten a lot better. He said some of it will take time, but he made some adjustments that made an immediate difference. I only have pain on one side of my mouth now, not both, and the pain is both less frequent and less severe.
For my marriage:
- I am actually really proud of how focused I was during my skype dates with Dan. I really tried to be in the moment and not distracted by other things on the Internet. We had some pretty important conversations about a lot of personal topics that I can’t fully divulge to an Internet full of people. Possibly most importantly, we talked often about our living situation in Georgia. We have amazing temporary lodging, but it’s in someone else’s house, and we want our own space eventually. Dan has previewed apartments and townhouses for us, which we’ll tour this week and next.
For our household:
- Well. It eventually got packed up. I didn’t do as much of it myself as I had intended, but I also spent most of the past week pretty sick. I’m grateful to my in-laws for all their help in packing!
- Our old rental house isn’t “move-in ready,” but I scrubbed the bathrooms before we left, and I did a quick run of the floor cleaner on the living room floor. Family helped clean the other rooms too. I’m sure it’s clean enough for our landlord, especially since we have to pay half rent for the last three months of our lease aka through the end of May.
For the Winter 2014 Book Challenge:
I definitely did not finish, but that’s okay. February was a short month already, and I spent most of it focused on our move from Findlay to Norcross/Atlanta.
30 points: Read two books with a different meal in each title (e.g. breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper, brunch; update: meals like feast, banquet, picnic will also count, but try not to get too “creative” with your meal words!). I finished Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast, and I read The Dinner by Herman Koch.

March Goals
For my blog:
- Launch my first newsletter! I’ve started collecting email addresses already, and my first newsletter will probably go out next week. Keep an eye out in the next few days for more information! Sneak preview: it’s called life.love.latitude. And if you want to sign up, check out my sidebar!
- Start updating images in my old blog posts. While I started out okay enough as a blogger, I need to resize old images so they take up less memory, and I need to update graphics to match the colors I finally picked in January. This will be an ongoing process, but if I can update a few blog posts a month, that will be good progress.
For my health:
- Schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist.
- Schedule an eye appointment.
- Try again to go to bed by 11pm. Now that I’m reunited with Dan, he can help me with this goal.
- Continue with the vitamin regimen I’ve started.
For my marriage:
- Reflect on our first year of marriage. Figure out what we’re doing well, and what we can do better.
- Find one way to appreciate Dan every day.
- Celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary on March 22nd!
For our household:
- Settle into our temporary (and beautiful!) housing.
- Find a new place to live! Tour apartments and townhouses and condos and whatever else is available to rent.
There are a lot of changes in my life this month, so I don’t want my goals to be overly-ambitious. I’m very excited about settling into the Atlanta area and starting my new life here with Dan!
