Being sick is pretty awful.
Being sick all by myself is worse.
Being sick all by myself while prepping to move is the WORST.
Last Thursday night was like Thanksgiving Weekend: the Sequel. Aka I was in agonizing pain, and I couldn’t stop vomiting and dry-heaving all night long.
I took a sick day on Friday, and my sweet in-laws came over to take care of me. They brought me ginger ale and Gatorade. Paul cleared my front walk for me while Mary Kay packed up the kitchen things. When I felt ready to eat, Mary Kay made me chicken noodle soup. Paul also set up no-kill traps for my mouse, Phoebe, who still hasn’t shown up yet.
They came over again on Sunday. Paul completely cleared the driveway, the front and back walks, and additional outdoor spaces that need to be clear for the move this weekend. Mary Kay packed up everything in the utility room.
This is just one small example of how great my MIL and FIL have been.
They’ve welcomed me from the very beginning into their family, even when I showed up on Thanksgiving Day 2011 to meet them for the very first time.
They were completely supportive of the unusual wedding plans Dan and I made.
And even though they’ll obviously miss Dan and me while we’re in Georgia, they’re excited for this new phase in our life. I’m happy to move closer to my parents, but I’m really going to miss my awesome parents-in-law.

Today I’m linking up with Charlene at From Bisons to Buckeyes for Thankful Thursdays! It’s a monthly link-up on the last Thursday of each month. What are you thankful for right now?

I am so sorry you’ve been sick while trying to move! That’s the worst. But it sounds like you got pretty lucky with those in-laws! They sound like wonderful people and not everybody can say that about their in-laws. Thanks for linking up!
Yeah, it’s been the pits, but such is life with Crohn’s Disease.
Thanks for hosting!
How sweet! Great in-laws are a huge blessing. Cherish them!
I do! I feel so blessed to have them.
So lovely you have great in-laws. That’s one of the things I pray for, my parents always got along with their inlaws and I hope to have similar relationships with my future in laws.
It’s good to pray for good in-laws, just like you’re (probably) praying for a good spouse one day. I’m so blessed to have mine!
They sound really lovely!
They’re great!
That’s so sweet of them! I love my in-laws, too! They are so sweet, loving, kind, and thoughtful.
I’m glad to hear yours are good too!
Oh, no! Your sickness sounds so terrible. I had a night like that recently, and it was really miserable. 🙁 So sweet of your in laws to come over and take care of you! That is such a blessing!
Alas, such is life with Crohn’s Disease. My first goal in GA is to see a gastroenterologist and add some new drugs to my life.
My in-laws are AMAZING, and I truly do feel blessed to have them!
This is so sweet! Your inlaws sound amazing!!
What amazing in-laws you have! That’s such a blessing!
It’s so refreshing to hear someone spew positivity about their inlaws for once. So many people seem to have only negative remarks on this particular topic. You do seem lucky to have them, but they are equally lucky to have you! Thank you for linking up this day-brightening post at This Is How We Roll Thursday. I hope you continue to come back and spread more sunshine.
That’s seriously awesome that you have such a good relationship with them!
First off, that is a lovely picture of the family. Secondly, how cool is that, that you get along with your inlaws?! It’s not always the case, but it certainly makes life easier.
